Bangkok (VNA) - Thailand’s northeastern provinces bordering Laos, such as Bung Kan and Nakhon Phanom provinces, have recorded heavy rainfall since July 21 night as Tropical Storm Wipha moves onto Vietnam and inches closer to Thailand.
The Meteorological Department forecast that more unfriendly weather, rain and gusting winds will last to at least July 24.
Heavy rain is forecast for Bung Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Chaing Rai, Phayao and Nan provinces. Rough seas with waves up to four metres are forecast for Ranong and Phangnga on the Andaman coast and provinces along the Gulf of Thailand.
Thunderstorms and strong winds are expected over about 70% of Greater Bangkok.
The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department warned of flash flooding in five northern provinces of Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Phayao, Phꦯrae and Nan, and three provinces in the northeastern region - Nong Khai,🔴 Bung Kan and Nakhon Phanom - until at least July 23./.
