New Delhi (VNA) - Indian Naval Ships INS Delhi, Shakti, and Kiltan, of the Eastern Fleet, commanded by RAdm Susheel Menon, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet (FOCEF), arrived at Manila, the Philippines on August 1.
The Indian Ministry of Defence affirmed that the visit is the testament for India’s commitment to strengthening defence and maritime ties with partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
During their stay, the two navies will hold professional exchanges, operational discussions, ship visits, and joint activities aimed at enhancing interoperability and mutual understanding. Notably, they are set to conduct their first-ever bilateral maritime exercise in the region.
The port call took place on the threshold of Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s first official trip to India from August 4–8 which is expected to push forward collaboration in key areas such as defence, maritime security, investment, and technology./.
