Vietnam Airlines adjusts flight schedules due to Typhoon Wipha

The move came after the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) decided to close Van Don international airport in the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh and Cat Bi international airport in neighbouring Hai Phong city from 11 p.m. on July 21 to noon on July 22 in response to the storm.

Hanoi (VNA) – The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has adjusted its flight schedules to ensure the safety of passengers and crew given the complicated developments of Typhoon Wipha, the third to hit the East Sea this year.

The move came after the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) decided to close Van Don international airport in the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh and Cat Bi international airport in neighbouring Hai Phong city from 11 p.m. on July 21 to noon on July 22 in response to the storm.

Accordingly, at Van Don airport, flights VN1286 and VN1287 between Ho Chi Minh City and Van Don has been rescheduled, with departures and arrivals expected after 2 p.m. on July 22.

Also, at Cat Bi airport, flights VN1176 and VN1177 between HCM City and Hai Phong, along with VN1670 and VN1671 between Da Nang and Hai Phong will depart and arrive after 2:00 pm. Evening flights on the same day are expected to operate as planned.

At Tho Xuan airport in Thanh Hoa province, flights VN1276 and VN1277, as well as VN7264 and VN7265 between HCM City and Tho Xuan, will depart earlier than scheduled, with takeoffs set before 11:00 am on July 22. Meanwhile, flights VN1278, VN1279, VN7268, VN7269, VN7276, and VN7277 on the same day have been canceled.

The carrier is closely monitoring weather conditions to determine appropriate operational plans at Noi Bai international airport.

The Vietnam Airlines Group, encompassing Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, and Vasco, has advised passengers to keep seat belts fastened throughout flights, particularly amidst adverse weather.

In the event of changes to flight schedules due to unforeseen weather conditions, departure times may continue to be adjusted based on actual circumstances.
