Havana (VNA) – Vietnam and Cuba have agreed to deepen cooperation in the field of media, with a focus on professional exchange and human resource training in tel🅰evision production.
The consensus was reached during a working visit to Cuba by a delegation from Vietnam Television (VTV), led by Tu Luong, Director of the VTV Centre in Ho Chi Minh City. The delegation met with Jorge Legañoa Alonso, Vice President of Cuba’s Institute of Information and Social Communication (IICS), to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral collaboration.
One of the key objectives of the trip is to produce a short documentary on the success of a Vietnamese rice cultivation project in Cuba. The film is scheduled to air on VTV1 in celebration of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025).
Jorge Legañoa Alonso expressed his deep gratitude for Vietnam’s continued support for Cuba, particularly in the face of current economic challenges. He cited the famous words of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro: “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its own blood,” noting that Vietnam continues to demonstrate the same spirit of solidarity toward Cuba today.
The two sides agreed to broadcast the film simultaneously in Vietnam and Cuba as part of activities marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 – 2025) and the Vietnam–Cuba Year of Friendship in 2025.
On this occasion, the VTV delegation also presented television equipment to their Cuban partners and gifts to the authorities and residents of Los Palacios district in Pinar del Río province, where the CT16 rice variety project is being implemented./.
The contest, titled “Cuba – Vietnam: amistad sin fronteras” (Cuba – Vietnam: friendship without borders) drew 454 submissions from Cuban students aged 6 to 14 across 59 primary and secondary schools.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the VPA’s General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defence reaffirmed Vietnam’s unwavering gratitude for Cuba’s invaluable support during its struggle for independence and nation-building efforts, and pledged to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Cuba as it navigates current challenges.
