Bangkok (VNA) – Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on August 17 said he would continue as the next prime minister if there were no other options.
“I think there are several prominent figures in Thailand, who are better than me. But if you can’t find any good persons, then you turn to me,” he said at a weekly press conference. Earlier, the leader had refused to talk about the possibility of staying on as the PM after the general election in 2017.
According to Thailand’s new Constitution, which was freshly passed, the kingdom’s next PM could be a non-elected MP, outside the parties’ prepared PM nomination lists, to be selected in the first joint parliamentary meeting.
