Bangkok (VNA) – Paiboon𝕴 Nititawan, a former member of Thailand’s now-defunct National Reform Council, on August 9 announced his intention to establish a new political party and run in the next general election for the House of Representatives.
Paiboon, who was also a member of the now-defunct first Constitution Drafting Committee, said that he made the decision after he consulted several people who shared his ideology.
The party will be “by the people, of the people and for the people” and will be named “Prachachon Patiroop” (the People’s Reform Party), he said.
The party will focus on empowering citizens and making national reforms, he said, adding that after a new political party law takes effect, he will register the party.
In response to press queries about his relations with the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), he stated that his party and the PDRC, which shared the same ideology, could work together.
Asked whether his party would be open to retired military officers, Paiboon said that as retirees are ordinary people, they will be welcomed.-VNA
