Red River among world's top eight greatest for cruising

Hanoi (VNA) - Deborah Stone and Nick Dalton,co-authors of the book The World’s Great River Journeys, have named Vietnam'sRed River among the eight unmissable river trips worldwide, according to anarticle on UK's Daily Mail newspaper.
The authors stated in the article that typhoons andtorrential summer rain have partly contributed to the terracotta tones of theRed River. They suggested visitors take a Pandaw cruise trip, which allowstourists to sail the river and its tributaries Lo and Da, spend a day in Hanoi,and stop at villages, and enjoy two days on Ha Long Bay.
Visitors were also recommended not to miss the swimmingexperience on the bay.
Other names on the list include Murray River, ColumbiaRiver, Sava River, and Dnieper River.
Hanoi is ranked 12th among the 25 best global destinationsin 2018. Popular destinations in the capital include the Mausoleum of PresidentHo Chi Minh, the Temple of Literature (Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam), the Hanoi OldQuarters, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple.
Meanwhile, Ha Long Bay literally “descending dragon bay” isa must-see destination in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh. The bayspans 1,553 square kilometres and includes 1,969 islands of various sizes. Itwas twice recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994 and 2000.-VNA
Hanoi authorities have asked three construction giants to devise planning schemes to develop the areas along the iconic Hong (Red) River that flows past the capital city.
