- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse, and the delegation of Vietnam arrived in Hanoi on July 9 morning, concluding a successful working visit to Brazil, where he attended the expanded BRICS summit and engaged in bilateral activities.
The trip from July 4 to 8, made at the invitation of Brazilian President Lula da Silva, featured nearly 40 activities, including those within the BRICS summit, meetings with leaders of other counties and international organisations, and bilateral activities with the Brazilian side. Read full story
- Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son separately met with Lao, Cambodian and Thai foreign ministers on the sidelines of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM 58) and Post Ministerial Conferences in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 8.
Meeting with Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs Maris Sangiampongsa, the two sides expressed satisfaction with the elevation of bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership, noting increased political trust and growing cooperation across security, defence, trade, investment, science, tourism, education, and cultural exchange. - Promoting and ensuring human rights involve multiple sectors and pillars, requiring a comprehensive approach and enhanced coordination between the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) and specialised agencies to optimise resources for human rights cooperation, a Vietnamese official has said.
Speaking at the dialogue with the AICHR on July 8, as part of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM-58) and related gatherings in Kuala Lumpur, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son commended the AICHR’s contributions over the past 15 years and expressed confidence in its continued role in advancing the realisation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and other regional cooperation strategies. - The United Nations Human Rights Committee (HRC) gathered in Geneva, Switzerland, on July 7-8 to review Vietnam’s fourth periodic report on the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).

- The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has announced plans to organise a series of events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and the National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025).
Planned activities include preparing the official scenario for the national celebration ceremony and military parade, organising a special art performance, and establishing a national press centre to direct and guide public information about the celebrations. Preparations also include staging a national exhibition on socio-economic achievements and launching a poster design competition to raise public awareness about the significance of the events. - Vietnam has so far mobilised more than 7 billion USD for its just energy transition agenda under the Political Declaration on the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).
The information was unveiled at a coordination meeting in Hanoi on July 8 between Vietnam’s JETP Secretariat, International Partners Group (IPG), the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), and other stakeholders.
