Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.
- The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee convened its 47th session in Hanoi on July 10, focusing on key legislative and supervisory issues following the successful conclusion of the 15th NA’s 9th session.
Opening the session, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man noted that the committee is meeting at an important time, just after the new two-tier local administration model began operations nationwide on July 1, 2025. He stressed that the NA, the Government, and all relevant agencies have swiftly started carrying out resolutions passed at the 9th session. Read full story
- Building Vietnam into a nation of lifelong learning, in which every citizen has the opportunity to learn and is encouraged to learn throughout life, is not only a humanitarian goal, but also an important requirement to enhance national competitiveness, develop human resources and reinforce the nation's internal strength, State President Luong Cuong has said.
Receiving outstanding cadres of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education (VAPE) in Hanoi on July 10, President Cuong said building Vietnam into a nation of lifelong learning for every citizen is a very important task, a noble goal, requiring great efforts and endeavours of the entire Party, people, army and those who are working to promote learning and talent nationwide. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has recommended several adjustments to Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW to better reflect the country’s current development needs, its two-tier local government model, and recently adopted Party and State policies.
The PM, who is also a Politburo member and Secretary of the Government's Party Committee, made the proposals during the committee’s July 10 conference in Hanoi. The meeting reviewed three years of implementing the 2022 resolution on further reforming and improving institutions and policies, and enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of land management and use, as well as one year of enforcing the 2024 Land Law. The event also aimed to gather input for revising the resolution as a basis for future amendments and supplements to the Land Law. Read full story
- The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence has invited its counterparts from Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan, to attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945) and National Day (September 2).
In addition, Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, and Belarus have been invited to join a parade during the celebration, heard a meeting in Hanoi on July 9. Read full story
- A new initiative marking the 65th anniversary of Vietnam’s tourism sector has been launched - a YouTube Shorts travel video contest titled “Vietnam: Travel to Love!”.
Organised by the Centre for Tourism Information under the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT), in collaboration with YouTube and MCV Group, the three-month contest aims to encourage content creators and travel lovers to showcase the beauty of the landscapes, people, and culture of Vietnam through short videos, to international audiences in an emotionally engaging and modern way. - Vietnamese textile and fashion products attracted strong interest at Source Fashion London, Europe’s largest fashion sourcing fair, held from July 8–10 in the UK capital.
Supported by the Vietnam Trade Office in the UK and the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, 10 Vietnamese firms showcased a variety of garments and accessories, drawing attention from both British and international retailers. Highlights included dresses, suits, children's clothing, sportswear, and notably silk scarves and fashion accessories. Read full story./.
