Hanoi (VNA) – St꧑ate-run mobile network꧋ operator VNPT Vinaphone has installed some 11,000 extra nodeB 3G base transceiver stations (BTSs) to meet the sudden increase in service demand during the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.
The firm has also come up with a plan to optimise its BTS network, upgrade software and has prepared to handle any emergency in locations where large crowds are expected to prevent service failures, while extra staff will be on duty 24 hours a day.
At least 2-3 mobile base transceiver vans will be sent to each firework display location in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.
According to a Vinaphone manager, Tet holiday is a peak season when subscribers consume a large amount of mobile data.
The network operator has been preparing for the season by improving the capacity and quality of its 3G services and increasing network coverage, the manager said.
The 3G base stations in major cities have been enhanced with DC-HSDPA technology that allows a download speed of up to 42 Mbps.
Additionally, the firm has increased its international internet bandwidth by 170 Gbps while domestic internet bandwidth has been increased by an additional 400 Gbps.-VNA
