Vietnam’s achievements closely tied to strong Laos friendship: diplomat

Vientiane (VNA) – The Vietnamese Consulate General in Pakse hosted a ceremony ꦗon August 12 in Champasak province, southern Laos, to mark the 80th National Day of Vietna𒉰m (September 2, 1945 – 2025).

In her address, Consul General Ta Phuong Dung highlighted that over eight decades of nation-building and development, especially following 50 years of reunification and nearly 40 years of the Doi moi (Renewal) reforms, Vietnam has attained historic achievements across multiple sectors. She underscored that these accomplishments have been closely linked to the support of international partners, particularly the deep and enduring bonds with the Party, State, and people of Laos. The Vietnam–Laos relationship is an invaluable asset, nurtured and sustained across generations, she said.
Representing four southern Lao provinces, Alounxay Sounnalath, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Governor, expressed his appreciation for the special friendship between the two nations, describing it as a treasured legacy and a vital source of strength for their development and protection.
Sounnalath noted that collaboration between the four southern Lao provinces and Vietnam’s central and southern provinces has produced tangible results, particularly in diplomacy, infrastructure, education, and investment, benefiting from Vietnam’s steadfast support. On behalf of local authorities and people, he extended sincere gratitude to Vietnam for its enduring assistance in strengthening bilateral ties. The celebration featured cultural performances highlighting patriotism and the longstanding friendship between Vietnam and Laos, alongside a photo exhibition on President Ho Chi Minh, showcasing his pivotal role in fostering the two countries’ unique relationship./.
