Vietnam keen on fostering traditional solidarity with Cuba: VUFO
Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Don Tuan Phong has affirmed that his organization has always showed solidarity with Cuba in all people’s forums in the world.
Hanoi(VNA) – Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of FriendshipOrganisations (VUFO) Don Tuan Phong has affirmed that his organization has alwaysshowed solidarity with Cuba in all people’s forums in the world.
Receiving a delegationfrom the Cuban Communist Party Central Committee’s Department for ExternalRelations led by its deputy head Carlos Marsan, Phong said that Vietnam supportsCuba’s fight against the US embargo.
Phong said that in2018, VUFO and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association will cooperate closelywith the Cuban side in celebrating 45 years of Cuban leader Fidel Castro’svisit to Vietnam (1973-2018).
Vietnam welcomesdelegations from the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples and theCuba-Vietnam Friendship Association in March this year, he said, adding that hehopes the activities will help foster the friendship and solidarity between thetwo countries’ people.
For his part, CarlosMarsan thanked the VUFO and the Vietnamese people in general for warmsentiments towards Cuba. He also appreciated Vietnam’s support in overcomingconsequences of storm Irma in September last year.
He said that the soundsentiments between the Vietnamese and Cuban people should be passed on toyounger generations, considering it one of the focal tasks of the Cuban CommunistParty in 2018.
Cuba is on the processof updating its economy to develop the country and improve people’s livingconditions, which is always supported by the VUFO, he noted.
He held thatVietnamese firms’ interest in the Cuban market is a favourable condition toboost economic connection between the two countries and make it match the soundbilateral political relations.-VNA

Politburo member and Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) Vo Van Thuong has affirmed the consistent support and solidarity of the Vietnamese Party, State and people to their Cuban counterparts.
In 2019, the Vietnamese association in PEI was established as a non-governmental organisation to support integration and development within the community. It has since organised a range of activities to maintain cultural identity, foster community cohesion, and strengthen ties with the homeland, while also contributing to the development of the host society.
Vietnam’s participation at the meeting underscores the country’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification, and proactive international integration in a broad, deep, and effective manner. It also conveys Vietnam’s ambition and determination to enter a new era - the era of the nation’s rise.
The amended law will take effect on July 1, 2025, except for provisions on civil servant evaluation in Section 3, Chapter IV, which will be implemented from January 1, 2026.

At the working session, General Secretary Lam presented the Party Committee of the VFF and central mass organisations with the Politburo’s Decision No. 304-QD/TW, which outlines the new structure, functions and tasks of the VFF Central Committee, marking a significant step in improving its organisational effectiveness.
Describing the exhibition as a large-scaled, content-rich, and unprecedented event with high requirements and limited preparation time, PM Pham Minh Chinh urged all ministries, sectors, and localities to participate with the highest sense of responsibility, ensuring the exhibition is inclusive, objective, truthful, feasible, and impactful.
Vietnam’s attendance reaffirms its consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification, and comprehensive, intensive, extensive and effective international integration.
Cheng stressed that this is third time PM Chinh has attended the meeting and he is among the few senior government officials participating in this year's event, which is considered as a rare and commendable gesture.
