Vietnam and France have enjoyed robust cooperation since establishing diplomatic relations 50 years ago (April 12, 1973 - 2023) and a strategic partnership 10 years ago (2013-2023).
Documentary films produced by young Vietnamese directors are being screened in a special programme entitled “L’aventure Varan Vietnam” (Adventure of Varan Vietnam) under the umbrella of the Cinéma du Réel 2023 (International documentary film festival) which is underway in Paris from March 24- April 2.
A symposium entitled "France-Vietnam 1973-2023: From historical legacies to the challenges of the 21st century", was organised on March 31 and April 1 by Paul Valéry Montpellier 3 University in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in France, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership between the two countries.

The Vietnam-France strategic partnership has experienced positive developments. France currently ranks third among European countries investing in Vietnam, and Vietnam ranks second among Asian recipients of French official development assistance (ODA).
