Vietnam, Angola seek stronger, more practical cooperation

Luanda (VNA) – Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and his Angolan counterpart Téte António have agreed to build on their long-standing friendship to promote deeper, more practical cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and investment.
At their meeting, which took place in the Angolan capital of Luanda on August 7 as part of State President Luong Cuong’s ongoing state visit to the African nation, the two officials also agreed to make full use of existing cooperation mechanisms, particularly the Vietnam – Angola Intergovernmental Committee, and step up exchanges of delegations at all levels.
Son, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, thanked the Angolan Ministry of External Relations for its active role in advancing the bilateral ties and preparing for President Cuong’s historic visit to Angola. He proposed the two ministries work closely to relise the outcomes of the visit.
António described the Vietnamese President’s visit as a significant milestone in the history of bilateral relations, helping to strengthen existing areas of cooperation and open up promising new spheres. He called on both sides to capitalise on their strong foundation of friendship to boost economic, trade and investment ties in a more substantial way.
The two officials also committed to concretising cooperation programmes in priority fields such as agriculture, food security and rice production. Both sides encouraged their business communities to explore new opportunities for trade and investment.
Son also requested the Angolan Government and relevant agencies to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese citizens and businesses to live, work and operate in Angola, thus contributing to Angola's socio-economic development as well as friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
He took this occasion to invite António to soon visit Vietnam. The Angolan minister accepted the invitation with pleasure./.
Over the past five decades, the Vietnam - Angola relationship has grown steadily, marked by political trust and close bonds between their Parties, States, Governments, and peoples, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.
President Luong Cuong called on the two countries to join hands to promote South – South cooperation, contribute to building a fair and equal global political and economic order, safeguard independence and sovereignty, and promote extensive and substantive international solidarity and cooperation.
President Luong Cuong called on the community to remain united, integrate well into local society, adhere to local laws, and continue contributing to both Angola’s development and Vietnam – Angola relations.
The visits reflected the elevated position of Vietnam’s foreign policy in the new era—aimed at not only advancing ties with key regional partners like Egypt and Angola but also delivering a strategic message about Vietnam’s commitment to deepening relations with African nations as a whole.
At their talks and meetings, President Cuong and Angola’s top leaders affirmed that the close brotherhood and traditional friendship are a valuable shared asset and a solid foundation for the two nations to advance into a new phase of development.
The ruling People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) attaches great importance to the friendship, solidarity, and comradeship with the Communist Party of Vietnam, and voiced her Party’s wish to further deepen and expand relations between the two sides for the benefit of the Vietnamese and Angolan people.
Vietnam pledges to do its utmost to build an ASEAN of solidarity, consensus, and unity in diversity, and to foster a fast and sustainable development path for ASEAN, grounded in science, technology, and innovation, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Party General Secretary To Lam called on the criminal police force to accelerate the application of science, technology, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation in criminal investigation tasks such as crime prevention, detection, tracking and verification, ensuring that no area remains out of their reach.
