Hue (VNA) – National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on July 9 marked a key milestone in its 30-year development journey by welcoming its 350 millionth passenger on a flight from Hanoi to Hue.
The ceremony took place at Phu Bai International Airport, coinciding with the 65th anniversary of Vietnam’s tourism sector and the Visit Vietnam Year - Hue 2025. The flight was greeted with a water salute, a gesture reserved for notable aviation events.
At the ceremony, the 350 millionth passenger was awarded a Platinum Lotusmiles card, two round-trip domestic Business Class tickets, and souvenirs. Ten lucky passengers, from the 349,999,995th to the 350,000,005th, received round-trip domestic Economy Class tickets. All passengers on the flight were given gifts featuring the Vietnam Airlines brand and embodying the cultural identity of Hue — a warm greeting from the former imperial capital.
This event is among the highlights of Vietnam Airlines’ 30th anniversary activities, reaffirming its role in boosting regional connectivity, tourism, and trade.
On this occasion, the national carrier, in collaboration with the Hue city People's Committee, the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism and the city Departmnet of Tourism,also launched a promotional programme titled “Magical Hue Night – Discover to Love,” offering domestic and international visitors arriving on night flights to Hue special incentives, including accommodation discounts of up to 80%.
Over the past three decades, Vietnam Airlines has operated 1.2 million round-trip flights, covering 3.04 billion kilometres, and serving 350 million passengers with an average annual growth of 19%.
The airline has also transported 4.7 million tonnes of cargo and expanded its global network to over 1,000 destinations via the SkyTeam alliance.
Having fully recovered from the pandemic, Vietnam Airlines continues to expand international routes, with new service to Copenhagen slated for December, following those to Munich, Milan, Melbourne, and Perth.
It aims to further strengthen its global presence through network expansion, service upgrades, and sustainಞable development initiatives, positioning itself as a culturally distinctive Vietnamese brand on the world aviation map./.
