Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, is makingpreparations to host an informal meeting of ASEAN Foreign Ministers this month.
A preparatory meeting was chaired by Chiang Mai Governor Supachai Iamsuwan anddiscussed support work for the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat set to takeplace on January 16-18 in Chiang Mai.
A committee has been established specifically to handle the event and is beingheaded by the governor. The committee is handling public relations, locations,medical services, security, traffic management, customs inspections and allother necessary tasks to prepare for the retreat.
The event is taking place with Thailand as the current ASEAN Chair and willfocus on progress by the bloc's ongoing agenda. It will provide an opportunity for the Kingdom to outline its vision andpolicies for ASEAN in 2019. – NNT/VNA
