Test run of Cat Linh-Ha Dong railway delayed until next September
The test run of the Cat Linh-Ha Dong urban railway project, the first of its kind in Hanoi, has been delayed until September 2, 2018, after it missed a scheduled test in October.

Hanoi (VNA) – The test run of the Cat Linh-Ha Dong urban railway project, thefirst of its kind in Hanoi, has been delayed until September 2, 2018, after itmissed a scheduled test in October.
The Railway Project Management Unit proposed theMinistry of Transport ask for Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s approval forthe rescheduling. The rescheduling means the project will be 11 months delayedfrom the plan that was adjusted in February 2017.
The railway will operate on a trial basis forthree to six months, starting from September 2, 2018, and be put into use inNovember 2018.
This project has been rescheduled three times sofar.
In early 2016, the Transport Ministry asked theChina Railway Sixth Group Co. Ltd, the engineering – procurement – constructioncontractor of the project, to test the railway in September 2016 and launch it byDecember 31, 2016. As the project lagged behind schedule as of June 2016, theministry ordered the construction be finished by December 31, 2016.
However, this target was missed, forcing theTransport Ministry to postpone the test run until October 2017 so as to put therailway into operation in the late first quarter or early second quarter of2018. The project failed to meet this deadline once again.
The sluggish progress is attributable to variousreasons, including slow capital disbursement and the contractor’s limitedcapacity.-VNA
The first train of the Cat Linh-Ha Dong urban railway has been installed safely on the track, the Railway Projects Management Unit (under the Ministry of Transport) announced on February 21.
The China Eximbank has disbursed 18.25 million USD for the Cat Linh – Ha Dong Railway Project, said Vu Hong Phuong, Deputy Director General of the Railway Project Management Unit, on May 16.

The VNA delegation, led by General Director Vu Viet Trang, actively participated in the event, engaging in both professional and diplomatic activities.
