The documentary Arieu Ping of the Pa Co, a film on the traditionalfestival of the Pa Co ethnic group, won the first prize in the categoryof documentaries, sports broadcasts and promotional films at the closingceremony of the sixth Festival of International Tourism and SportsCinema and Television, held at the Hanoi Opera House on July 7.
"The festival received many more entries of better quality than inprevious years," said the head of the festival organising board, NguyenXuan Vinh. "In each genre, we saw good entries and several which shouldhave been more creative. However, all reflected the characteristicfeatures of sports and tourism films."
Opening on July 4, thefestival presented 70 films on sports and 75 films on tourism submittedby 25 domestic and 36 foreign film production companies and televisionnetworks.
The organising board divided the entries into twocategories: documentaries, sports broadcasts and promotional films; andscientific and educational films.
The tourims promotion filmFour Countries – One Destination, tracking an itinerary throughCambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, was also honoured, along with thesports films Piedra De Luiz, produced by Spain's Salomba Ventures, andReferee, produced by Sweden's Freedom from Choice.
In thecategory of scientific and educational films, the organising committeehonoured Vuot Len So Phan (Overcome Destiny), a film depicting theincredible effort of paraplegic Vietnamese athletes, and Wrestling, afilm produced by Switzerland 's Elite Film Productions.-VNA
