The armies of Vietnam and Brunei should forge closer links by increasingexchange of high-level visits, Defence Minister General Phung QuangThanh has said.
The Defence Minister made thesuggestion during his reception on June 8 for the Royal Brunei ArmedForces (RBAF) Commander, Major General Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya DatoPaduka Seri Mohd Tawih Bin Abdullah, who is leading a delegation on anofficial friendship visit to Vietnam from June 7-9 at the invitation ofthe Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, SeniorLieutenant General Do Ba Ty.
Minister Thanh saidhe believes that the visit will contribute to boosting defence tiesbetween the two countries, for peace and stability in the region and theworld.
Commander Pehin Tawih thanked theVietnamese defence chief for the warm welcome, saying that his visitaims to promote the bilateral defence connection.
Inrecent years, the relations between the Vietnam People’s Army and theRBAF have been reinforced through the exchange of high-level visits,naval cooperation, training, and exchange of young officers.
Cooperation results between the two sides practically contributed to the building of the ASEAN Community by 2015.
