Resolution on establishment of centrally-run Hue city adopted
With 458 votes of approval from 461 deputies, of 95.62% of the total, the 15th National Assembly (NA) on November 30 adopted a resolution on the establishment of centrally-run Hue city.

Hanoi (VNA) – With 458 votes of approval from 461 deputies, or 95.62% of the total, the 15th National Assembly (NA) on November 30 adopted a resolution on the establishment of centrally-run Hue city.
Under the resolution, which will come into effect from January 1, 2025, the centrally-run city will be based on the entire natural area of 4,947.11 sq.km and a population of 1,236,393 from the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.
The National Assembly tasked the NA Standing Committee with determining the arrangement and establishment of district and commune-level administrative units within Hue city, ensuring that these changes take effect simultaneously with the resolution. Agencies, organisations, and units whose names are tied to the province of Thua Thien-Hue will be renamed to reflect the city’s new status.
The establishment of centrally-run Hue city will be a driving force for the Government, Party committees and local authorities to implement approved urban development plans and programmes, with specific investment and development direction🌞s and plans to enhance urban quality, fast, strong and sustainable urban economic growth, thereby gradually increasing per-capita income and other development indicators in the city./.
The 15th National Assembly (NA) on November 30 adopted the Law on Justice for Minors with 461 yes votes from 463 deputies, or 96.24%, as part of the ongoing eighth session.

The amended law will take effect on July 1, 2025, except for provisions on civil servant evaluation in Section 3, Chapter IV, which will be implemented from January 1, 2026.
