The Republic of Korea (RoK) will extend its support to help upgrade the investigation capabilities of the Philippines' police force, according to Yonhap news agency of the RoK.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Republic of Korea (RoK) will extend itssupport to help upgrade the investigation capabilities of the Philippines'police force, according to Yonhap news agency of the RoK.
Yonhap cited officials at the Korea International Cooperation Agency(KOICA), RoK’s bilateral aid agency, as saying that it and the Korea NationalPolice Agency will together spend 7.5 billion won (6.6 million USD) by nextyear to transfer investigation techniques in 17 fields, including forensics,evidence analysis, data management and suspect tracking, to the Philippinepolice.
In addition, about 270 patrol cars and motorcycles, and 120 scienceinvestigation kits will be handed over, while about 150 Philippine policeofficers will undergo training in South Korea, KOICA officials said.
Yonhap said the agreement on bilateral police cooperation was signed onJuly 12 at a ceremony in Quezon City.
Yonhap said the Philippine government has been struggling to reducecrimes, with RoK nationals there victimized by about 10 violent crimes over therecent two to three years. It cited data as showing that 1.5 million RoKnationals the Philippines each year, with about 90,000 other Korean nationalsstaying there.
The RoK news agency quoted Ambassador Kim as saying that the bilateralpolice cooperation will be helpful to the Philippine government's campaign tofight crimes and protect citizens, and is also expected to help better protect RoKvisitors and residents.-VNA
