Prudential Vietnam has new chief executive officer

With over 25 years of experience in the life insurance and financial services industry across Asia, Kwon brings a strong track record of driving growth, operational excellence, and customer-centric innovation.
His appointment underscores Prudential’s renewed commitment to strengthening its presence in Vietnam from Prudential plc and enhancing its role as a trusted partner for Vietnamese families.

In his new role, Kwon will lead the execution of Prudential’s strategy in Vietnam, one of the Prudential plc’s most important growth markets in Asia. His focus will include elevating customer experience, expanding distribution capabilities, and bolstering Prudential’s position as a market role model committed to long-term value creation.

Kwon began his life insurance career with Prudential and has since held senior roles across multiple markets and top-tier insurers. He brings his extensive expertise in Agency, Bancassurance, Operations, Product & Corporate Strategy.

In 2024, Prudential Vietnam continued to strengthen its operations, enhance customer experience, and effectively navigate market fluctuations. The company’s total assets reached 189 trillion VND ( 7.23 billion USD), representing a 7% year-on-year increase, positioning Prudential as the second-largest life insurer by asset size and the largest among foreign life insurers in Vietnam. Total invested assets grew by 10.3% to 168.2 trillion VND. With a robust solvency margin of 193%, Prudential remains strongly positioned to fulfill its insurance obligation and deliver long-term financial security for its customers.

While mergers and acquisitions in the Vietnamese life insurance sector have been relatively quiet, M&As in the non-life insurance sector have been quite strong, with the participation of both foreign and domestic investors.
The country’s three major network providers – Viettel, VNPT and MobiFone – have so far deployed around 11,000 5G base stations, equivalent to 7.7% of existing 4G stations. These stations now cover all provinces and cities, reaching approximately 26% of the population.
