Prime Minister receives Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam
The upcoming State visit to Vietnam by the Emperor and Empress of Japan will be a memorable milestone in the close friendship and cooperation between the two countries, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said.

Hanoi(VNA) – The upcoming State visit to Vietnam by the Emperor and Empress of Japanwill be a memorable milestone in the close friendship and cooperation betweenthe two countries, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said.
He received Japan’sAmbassador to Vietnam Kunio Umede in Hanoi on February 14 to discuss ways toboost the two countries’ cooperation.
PM Phuc said Vietnam-Japan relations are experiencing the best-ever time andVietnam places importance to fostering its ties with Japan under the spirit of theextensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.
He said he was delighted with the visit to Vietnam in early 2017 by PrimeMinister Abe and his spouse and appreciated the Ambassador and the JapaneseEmbassy in Vietnam for working closely with Vietnamese agencies to make itsuccessful.
Vietnam is working to prepare for the State visit by the Emperor and Empress,seeing it an important event, he said, asking the two countries’ functionalagencies to do their best to prepare well for the visit.
PM Phuc expressedhis belief that with the forthcoming high-level visits, the cooperation andfriendship between Vietnam and Japan will grow outstandingly, bringingpractical outcomes and benefits for the two people.
Ambassador KunioUmede briefed his host that the Japanese Embassy is actively coordinating withrelevant Vietnamese agencies in preparations for the upcoming visit by theEmperor and Empress.
The visit will indicate that bilateral relationship is at the best-ever periodand is increasingly being deepened in a more comprehensive manner, he said.
He also informed thePM about the coordination with Vietnamese agencies in preparing a large-scaleprogramme to promote investment in Vietnam with the participation of around1,000 Japanese businesspeople.
In the meantime, theJapan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) and the Ministry of Planning andInvestment are working closely to ensure the success of the programme, hesaid.-VNA
Japan’s Miyagi Prefecture hopes to foster connectivity and partnership with Ho Chi Minh City in areas of the prefecture’s strength, including agriculture, aquaculture and education, said a representative of the locality.
Vietnamese trainee nurses and caregivers, coming to Japan in fiscal 2014 and 2015 under the two countries’ Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), are now allowed to stay an additional year.
