President Truong Tan Sang, who is in Jakarta, Indonesia to attend theAsian-African Conference (AAC) 2015, met with leaders and seniorofficials from Iran, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK)and Mozambique on April 23.
At a meeting withIranian President Hassan Rouhani, the Vietnamese leader expressed hisdelight at the initial progress of nuclear negotiations between Iranand P5+1 while lauding the country’s role as the Chair of theNon-Aligned Movement for the 2012-2015 tenure.
TheIranian leader stated that his country is interested in boostingmulti-faceted cooperation with Vietnam , especially in economics andculture.
The two Presidents agreed that it iscrucial to both seek measures to increase trade and to supportbusinesses of both sides to seek partnerships.
President Rouhani declared that Iranian enterprises are interested ininvesting in Vietnam and pledged to create favourable conditions forVietnamese firms to operate in Iran , especially in oil and gas.
As an active ASEAN member, Vietnam should work with Iran inconnecting ASEAN and the Economic Cooperation Organisation that groups10 Middle East and Central Asian countries, suggested the Iranianleader.
President Truong Tan Sang took the occasion to invite his Iranian counterpart to visit Vietnam .
Meeting with President of the Presidium of the DPRK’s Supreme People’sAssembly Kim Yong-nam, President Truong Tan Sang said he is pleasedthat both sides are coordinating closely in organising activities tocelebrate the 65 th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year, includingof high-level delegation exchanges.
Kim Yong-nam said his country attaches strong importance to developing traditional ties with Vietnam .
Both sides concurred that it is necessary to maintain delegationexchanges at all levels and utilise the Inter-Government Committeemechanism. They discussed ways to ramp up economic and tradecollaboration.
The two leaders also agreed to continue close coordination at multilateral forums, especially the Non-Aligned Movement.
President Truong Tan Sang affirmed that Vietnam consistentlysupports a Korean Peninsula of peace and stability without nuclearweapons, as well as dialogues for mediation, cooperation and unitybetween the two Koreas .
During a meeting withMozambique Foreign Minister Oldemiro Baloi, the Vietnamese Stateleader congratulated the FRELIMO Party on its success in the 2014election. He pointed to the need for both sides to increase theiraffiliation in trade, telecommunications, agriculture, healthcare,education and human resource development.
Baloi saidMozambique has been developing with an economic growth of about 7.2percent. He appreciated the Joint Committee’s effective operations lastyear, creating momentum for the promotion of bilateral partnership inboth public and private sectors.
The MozambiqueForeign Minister thanked Vietnam for its assistance in agriculture,adding that the Vietnamese Viettel Group’s telecommunications investmentin his country have yielded good results.
