Hanoi (VNA) –President Tran Dai Quang on Sept. 1 presented decisions to promote officers ofthe Vietnam People’s Army to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General and LieutenantGeneral.
Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang,member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central MilitaryCommission’s Standing Board, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’sArmy and Deputy Defence Minister; and Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia,member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central MilitaryCommission and Deputy Director of the General Political Department werepromoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General.
Major General Tran Viet Khoa,member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central MilitaryCommission and Director of the Vietnam Academy of Defence, was promoted to the rankof Lieutenant General.
Speaking at the event, PresidentTran Dai Quang said the promotion showed the Party and State’s recognition ofthe officers’ dedications and contributions to the Vietnam People’s Army aswell as the process of national construction and development.
Amid complicated developments inthe world, the people’s armed forces and the Vietnam People’s Army inparticular must heighten revolutionary vigilance and improve their combatcapacity, deserving the loyal and trustworthy political and fighting force ofthe Party, State and people, he said.
On behalf of the promoted officers, Sen. Lieut. Gen.Phan Van Giang pledged to strive to fulfill all tasks assigned by the Party,State, people and army.-VNA
