HCM City (VNA) – A photo exhibition on the five-decadejourney of the Vietnam – India diplomatic relations (January 7, 1972 - 2022)opened at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum on January 7, aiming to help people gainbetter understanding on the countries’ traditional friendship and culturalsimilarities.
On display at the event are 100 black and white photos regardingthe nations’ friendship as well as their diplomatic-cultural-educationalrelationship reflected in HCM City. The photos capture visits exchanged byIndian and Vietnamese leaders like President Ho Chi Minh (in India, 1958) and PrimeMinister Jawaharlal Nehru (in Vietnam, 1954).
The exhibition also introduces bilateral cooperation activitiesacross all spheres, including economy, politics, defence, security,trade-investment, science-technolgy, and culture, among others.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Huynh Thanh Lap, Chairmanof the municipal Vietnam – India Friendship Association, said over the pasttime, India has always supported Vietnam’s causes of national construction anddevelopment.
Lap said despite the impact of COVID-19 in the past twoyears, the countries still sustained their high-level and all-level exchangesand issued the Vietnam-India Joint Vision Statement for Peace, Prosperity andPeople in December 2020.
The nations also gave each other valuable support toovercome the pandemic and recover their economies, including their agreementson opening direct flights between their capitals and big cities, he added.
Echoing the view, Indian Consul General to HCM City MadanMohan Sethi hoped that the sides would further strengthen their collaboration inhealth, education, and culture, among others./.
