LaiChau (VNA) – Police in the northern border province of Lai Chau saidon July 13 that they have busted a trans-regional drug ring and seized 300,000pink-coloured Methamphetamine pills weighing more than 30kg.
Thedrug was transported from Dien Bien province to Lao Cai province by a ring saidto consist of Mong ethnic individuals and Lao nationals.
Suspiciousactivities were reported on bus routes between the two provinces on June 18,2017 and were linked to the drug ring a week later.
Policebegan following the case closely on June 25 and uncovered the smuggling of thepink crystals on July 10.
Thetwo traffickers, Sung A Thai, a Lao national, 21, and Ho A Chua, a Vietnamesenational, 28, were caught while waiting in Lao Cai for a bus carrying the drugfrom Dien Bien.
Theyadmitted to be hired by Mong ethnics with Lao citizenship to distribute the illegalgoods in Lao Cai. If successful, they would get paid 160 million VND (7,040USD).
Thecase is under investigation.
