New book chronicles 50 years of Vietnam-Japan relations

Hanoi (VNA) – A new book tracing the 50-year journey of Vietnam-Japan relations was introduced in Hanoi on March 18 by the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Titled "50 Years of Vietnam-Japan Relations (1973-2023)🎉," the book, co-authored bꦆy 10 experts, offers a comprehensive look at the evolution of bilateral ties.

Speaking at the launch, VASS Vice President Dr. Dang Xuan Thanh highlighted 2023 as a landmark year, marking half a century of bilateral cooperation. He noted that the book serves as both a historical reflection and an essential academic resource for those studying the two nations’ political, economic, cultural, and educational links.
Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki emphasised that the upgrade of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World in 2023 marked a new chapter in their relationship. He underscored that insights from the past five decades, captured in the book, will serve as a roadmap for future collaboration.
Co-editor Dr. Tran Hoang Long, Deputy Director of the Institute for Northeast Asian Studies, affirmed that Vietnam-Japan relations have never been stronger than they are now. Japan remains Vietnam’s largest bilateral sponsor, second-largest investor, and third-biggest trading partner, playing a pivotal role in the country’s development.
Structured into five chapters, the book explores൲ the foundations of bilateral ties, key historical milestones, the development of relations through periods, and prospects for🐼 future cooperation./.
Takebe Tsutomu, Special Advisor of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance, said the Vietnam-Japan University aims to become a prestigious research-oriented university in Asia, and train high-quality human resources with practical skills that meet the needs of society.
Over the past three decades, Japan has made significant contributions to Vietnam’s sustainable development, not only in terms of capital, technology, and market access but also by helping the Southeast Asian country join Japanese firms' supply and value chains.
The 10th Vietnam-Japan Festival features over 100 booths, around 30 stage performances, and special activity zones, including Olympic sports events. Organisers expect the event to attract about 450,000 visitors, surpassing last year’s record of 420,000.

VietnamPlus e-newspaper of the VNA clinched an A prize in the “Outstanding Press Product” category for its immersive 3D multimedia project, “Epic of Reunification,” a groundbreaking blend of storytelling and technology. The VNA won another A prize for its eye-catching exhibition booth.
Today, the press for foreign service has evolved into a distinct, irreplaceable force, bridging Vietnam with the world and portraying a nation that is stable, peace-loving, and fully integrated into the international community.
At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. He noted that the early completion reflects the strong commitment of local authorities, the business community, philanthropists, and residents in improving housing conditions for disadvantaged groups.
The VNA delegation, led by General Director Vu Viet Trang, actively participated in the event, engaging in both professional and diplomatic activities.
