Hanoi (VNA) – T𝔍h♛e US’s Ford Vietnam has announced a voluntary recall of 728 units of the EcoSport made between December 29, 2014 and March 10, 2015 to rectify suspension issues, said Lao Dong (Labour) Newspapers .
The carmaker is inspecting the Rear Twist Beam (RTB) bolt on the unit due to a possibility that the bolt may not have been tightened to specifications in some of the affected vehicles, which might cause the pivot bolt to break and hamper the vehicle’s driveability, increasing the risk of an accident.
Ford Vietnam has already started contacting the concerned customers to get their vehicles inspected at a local Ford dealer. All the necessary work will be carried out for free by the company.
The company also said no accidents related to the issue had been reported.
The recall campaign will go from January 29 to January 6, 2018. Inspection and bolt replacement for each car are expected to take two hours.
The Ford EcoSport is a small utility vehicle (SUV) manufactured at the company’s plant in the northern province of Hai Duong. The model is offered from 606 million VND (27,500 USD) to 681 million VND (31,000 USD).
The accumulated sales of the model in 2015 reached 3,977 units, a growth of 145 percent compared with 2014.-VNA
Ford Vietnam saw strong sales in July with 1,405 units sold, up 7 percent against the same period last year, revealed the firm’s July report on August 10.
Ford Vietnam recently announced its sales in December last year rose 60 percent year-on-year to 2,634 vehicles, bringing the total cars sold in 2015 to the best-ever record of 20,740 units.
