Ministry reveals investigation results of Phuc Son, Thuan An cases

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on June 1 revealed investigation results of the cases at the Phuc Son Group JSC and Thuan An Group JSC.
Speaking at the Government’s regular press conference, Maj. Gen. Hoang Anh Tuyen, Deputy Chief of the MPS Office, said in the Phuc Son case, the MPS’s investigation police agency has initiated legal action against 23 persons.
The MPS has seized over 300 billion VND (nearly 11.8 million USD), 2 million USD, 500 gold taels, and more than 1,000 land use right certificates of the persons involved in the case.
It is consolidating documents and evidence to expand investigation and recover the lost and misappropriated property, he noted.
With regard to the Thuan An case, Tuyen continued, the investigation police agency has officially launched probe into eight persons, most recently Secretary of the Bac Giang provincial Party Committee Duong Van Thai for the charge of “abusing position and power while performing duties”.
From December 2014 to December 2023, this group, which specialises in investing and building technical infrastructure, trading electricity and renewable energy and trading and investing in real estate, directly or coordinated with others to bid for and win 32 contract packages worth over 23 trillion VND in 16 provinces and cities. During 2022 - 2023 alone, it won many packages worth more than 18 trillion VND, according investigation results.
Many suspects have made confessions, he noted, adding that the MPS calls on those with wrongdoings related to this case to turn themselves in to police to receive leniency./.
The standing board of the Central Steering Committee on Prevention and Control of Corruption and Negative Phenomena convened a meeting to discuss and give opinions on the results of handling several cases in the last five months.
The police have officially started legal proceedings against Vice Chairman of the Vinh Phuc provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Khuoc and five others for their suspected involvement in the case at the Phuc Son Group JSC, Spokesman of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) Lt.
