HCM City (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City Institute forDevelopment Studies (HIDS) and Vietnamese – Germany University (VGU) held ascientific seminar on June 7 to discuss opportunities and integrated managementtowards building a smart city.
HCM City’s smart city development project is expected toimprove management via “open data” system and new tools such as theconcentrated management centre, the centre for database and cyber security, andthe simulation centre.
Additionally, a start-up ecological system and an innovativeurban area also attract the involvement of the public and businesses.
HIDS Vice Director Nguyen Van Trinh said the institute isbuilding a simulation centre for strategic forecast, thus offering reference tothe city in socio-economic development.
It is also studying a project on developing the eastern cityinto an innovative urban area covering districts 2, 9 and Thu Duc.
Nguyen Ngoc Hieu from the VGU said the digital government buildingand integrated management of land and construction data are proper ways whichneed the involvement of businesses and universities.
He also asked localities in the city to step upinfrastructure investment collaboration.
Experts at the event delivered reports on co-runninggeographical space database and the role of sharing data on geographical space,building a system for forecast and early warning of flooding risk in the city,sustainable management of rainwater drainage, among others.-VNA
