Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - M💫alaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on June 26 presided over the launch of the Kota MADANI sm༒art city project in Precinct 19, Putrajaya.
The project emphasises sustainability and digital innovation, adopts a people-centric approach, and aims to set new standards for future urban development.
The PM suggested that the Kota MADANI smart city initiative serve as a blueprint for urban development nationwide, while highlighting the need for a balanced approach that prioritises public welfare over commercial interests.
The 4 billion RM (950 million USD) project will be developed by Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd (PjH) through a public – private partnership (PPP) under the build, lease, maintain, and transfer (BLMT) model, without utilising governement funds at the initial stage.
Kota MADANI will feature 10,000 high-density residential units capable of accomodating 30,000 residents, along with vertical schools and various public amenities.
The development will integrate artificial intelligence (AI), smart digital infrastructure, and green mobilities systems.
The project is expected to help address the housing needs of workers, civil servants, and professionals in the federal administrative center. It aims to promote an integrated model of living, working, learning, and leisure within a single area, thereby reducing dependence on private vehicles. This initiative supports Malaysia’s vision for a future-oriented urban environment that is green, sustainable, and technology-driven, designed to meet the quality living, working, and learning needs of its people./.
