LEGO vows to speed up 1 billion USD project in Binh Duong

Binh Duong (VNA) –Leaders of Binh Duong province on January 17 met with Vice President of theLEGO Group Preben Elnef, who said the Danish toy manufacturer will acceleratethe construction of its 1 billion USD factory here as committed.
Elnef spoke highly of thedynamic and professional investment climate in Binh Duong, an industrial hub insouthern Vietnam, noting that LEGO is also stepping up personnel recruitment inVietnam to serve its project.
For his part, Chairman of theprovincial People’s Committee Vo Van Minh pledged the best possible conditionsfor this project to be carried out successfully and fruitfully.
According to the LEGO Group, workon the factory in Binh Duong is scheduled to begin in 2022, and it will becomeoperational in 2024. The new facility will cover 44ha of land and have totalinvestment of more than 1 billion USD, making it the largest Danish-investedproject in Vietnam.
The sixth LEGO factory in theworld, also the second in Asia, is expected to help this firm expand its globalsupply chain, thereby flexibly and swiftly adapting to changes in consumptiondemand in each region, shortening the supply chain, and reducing environmental impactby long-haul transportation.
The plant is hoped togenerate 4,000 jobs in the next 15 years.
At a recent investmentpromotion event, Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham)Alain Cany described the LEGO project as a demonstration of Binh Duong as a dynamic,reformed, favourable, safe, and attractive destination for Europeaninvestors./.
The Danish toy production company LEGO Group on December 8 signed a memorandum of understanding with the Vietnam–Singapore Industrial Park Joint Stock Company (VSIP) on the building of a new plant in southern Binh Duong province.
