LangSon (VNA) – President Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended a ceremony markingthe 190th founding anniversary of the northern border province of Lang Son onNovember 4.
PartyGeneral Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and National Assembly Chairman Vuong DinhHue also sent flowers to congratulate the province on this occasion.
Inhis remarks, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Quoc Doan saidthroughout history, people of different ethnic groups in Lang Son have alwaysupheld patriotism and revolutionary tradition, shown steadfastness andundauntedness in the fights against foreign invaders, and stayed industrious,dynamic, and creative in working, thus substantially contributing to thedevelopment and safeguarding of the province and the country as a whole.
Onbehalf of Party and State leaders, President Phuc presented the first-classIndependence Order to the Party organisation, administration, and people ofLang Son for their particularly excellent achievements, which have helped withthe socialism building and national safeguarding.

TheState leader noted despite numerous difficulties of a mountainous and borderlocality, Lang Son has kept bringing into play the revolutionary tradition,upholding solidarity, mobilising resources, and tapping into potential andadvantages so as to become increasingly developed in terms of economy, society,culture, defence, security, and external relations.
Heasked the province to strongly combine socio-economic development withconsolidating defence - security, maintaining political stability and socialorder and safety, and firmly protecting national sovereignty and bordersecurity, thereby helping to build a borderline of peace, friendship,cooperation, and development.
LangSon needs to foster the traditional ties and cross-border trade with theGuangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and other localities of China so as to createa peaceful, stable, and favourable environment for socio-economic development,he added.

The northern border province of Lang Son has managed to maintain its role as a main gateway for border trade with the Chinese market, despite the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on commercial services and import and export of goods in the locality.
