Indonesia to establish National Preparedness Centre to respond to terror threats
The National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) of Indonesia is planning to set up the National Preparedness Centre in West Jakarta this year, according to head of the agency's general affairs bureau Fanfan Infansyah.

Jakarta (VNA) - The National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) of Indonesia is ꦉplanning to set up the National Preparedness Centre in West Jakarta this year, according to head of the agency's general affairs bur🍬eau Fanfan Infansyah.
In a statement released by his office on January 1, Infansyah, who is also chair of the technical team overseeing the national centre's development, said that the facility is envisioned to play a strategic role in boosting the nation's preparedness and resilience against terror threats.
It will also function as BNPT's primary facility for coordination and the rehabilitation of terror convicts, while serving as a platform for the anti-terror agency to evaluate coordination among law enforcement institutions and organise counter-radicalisation activities, he shared.
Earlier, the head of the BNPT Commissioner General Eddy Hartono stated that Indonesia secured a low-impact rating on the 2024 Global Terrorism Index (GTI), an improvement from its earlier medium-impact status in 2023.
According to him, in the 2024 GTI report, the country experienced an improvement in the security situation as indicated by a decrease in ranking, from 24 to 31. The improvement in security conditions indicated by the index categorises Indonesia as a country with a low impact by terrorism./.
