Jakarta (VNA) – Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte andPresident of Indonesia Joko Widodo committed to bolstering the two countries’cooperation across economy, agriculture, and infrastructure development duringtheir talks in Jakarta on November 23.
PM Mark Rutte is paying a three-day State visit to Indonesia. He is accompaniedby executives from over 110 companies, education organisations andnon-governmental organisations.
The two sides signed 38 memoranda of understanding and letters of intent, coveringeconomic issues, water management, flood control, climate change andhealthcare.
The Dutch PM stressed the important role of Indonesia, which is the Netherlands’sstrategic partner, on the international stage, and noted the possibility of thetwo countries furthering their economic cooperation in the coming time.
He renewed his country’s commitments to helping Indonesia developinfrastructure, especially the construction of sea ports and the development ofintegrated sea dykes.
President Joko Widodo expressed his wish that the Netherlands will supportIndonesia in negotiating the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreementbetween Indonesia and the European Union.
Trade between the twocountries hit 3.5 billion USD and Dutch businesspeople invested in 421 projectsworth 1.3 billion USD in Indonesia in 2015./.
