Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – As part of the 5♎8th ASEAN Foreign M💫inisters’ Meeting (AMM-58) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers' Meeting on July 10 adopted a new ASEAN-India Plan of Action for the next five years.
In a post on X, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita who co-chaired the meeting, noted that the ASEAN-India Plan of Action for 2026-2030 aims to expand cooperation further and give impetus to the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
As celebrations of the ASEAN-India Year of Tourism continue, he highlighted that discussions also focused on enhancing people-to-people relations.
Other areas which featured in discussions included proposals for cooperation in digital technology, disaster management, defence, economy, maritime issues and health.
In a statement ahead of his trip to Malaysia for the AMM-58, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs emphasised that the visit would renew India's deep engagement with the ASEAN-centred regional architecture, underline India’s strong commitment to ASEAN unity, ASEAN centrality and the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) and strengthen the ASEAN-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership./.
ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn outlined several priorities under the work plan, including the development of integrated cruise circuits, enhancement of port infrastructure with digital systems, and promotion of joint investments in cruise-related services.
