HCMCity, (VNA) – Thu Thiem 2 bridge linking Thu Duc city and District 1 inHo Chi Minh City opened to traffic on April 28.
Thesix-lane bridge, crossing Sai Gon river, cost over 3.08 trillion VND (134.26million USD) and spans 1,500 metres.
Alighting system is also being planned to turn the bridge into a symbol of thecity.

Atthe opening ceremony, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Phan VanMai said Thu Thiem 2 is an important transport work which will increasedevelopment momentum for the eastern region of HCM City, and has already become anarchitectural highlight on the Sai Gon River.
Togetherwith Thu Thiem 1 bridge and the tunnel beneath the Sai Gon River, Thu Thiem 2 willcomplete the road network, enhance connectivity between the city centre withthe Thu Thiem new urban area, and boost investment attractiveness, he noted.
DeputyPrime Minister Le Minh Khai said the bridge will contribute to the developmentof the Thu Thiem new urban area and residential areas in the east of the city.It will also help fuel other projects nearby, improve local transportinfrastructure, and ease traffic congestion./.
The Ho Chi Minh City property market is expected to develop strongly in 2022 on the back of a number of infrastructure projects being completed or started during the period, experts said.

At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. He noted that the early completion reflects the strong commitment of local authorities, the business community, philanthropists, and residents in improving housing conditions for disadvantaged groups.
The VNA delegation, led by General Director Vu Viet Trang, actively participated in the event, engaging in both professional and diplomatic activities.
