HCM City fosters cooperative relations with Daegu city

HCM City (VNA) - Ho Chi Minh City alꦅways attaches impᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚortance to cooperative ties withthe Republic of Korea (RoK)’s localities, including Daegu city, thus helping topromote friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the RoK, said amunicipal official.
Vice Chairman ofthe HCM City’s People Committee Le Thanh Liem made the statement on May 10 whilereceiving Kim Seung-su, Vice Mayor of Daegu city, who is paying a working visitto HCM City to mark three years of friendship and cooperative relations betweenthe two cities. HCM City andDaegu have increased the exchange of high-ranking delegations and jointlyorganised various activities such as Daegu festivals, business forums and mostrecently a concert celebrating the third founding anniversary of bilateralrelations, Liem said. He also affirmedthat HCM City will create optimal conditions for Daegu businesses to invest in thefields where they have advantages and HCM City has demand, particularlyinfrastructure development, metro system, flood prevention programme andenvironmental pollution reduction, among others.
For his part,Kim said he was happy to see that HCM City and Daegu city have enjoyedstronger cooperation after the establishment of friendship and cooperative ties.Daegu city’s representative office in HCM City has become an important bridgelinking businesses and people of the two cities, he added. The Vice Mayor briefedhis host on Daegu’s potential, noting that it has bolstered the development of theprocessing, automobile, water equipment, health and mining industries. The cityalso wants to enhance investment and trade links with HCM City’s enterprises inthe coming time, he said. Daegu is one ofthe largest cities in the RoK, only behind the capital city of Seoul, Busan andIncheon.-VNA
A business forum between Ho Chi Minh City and Daegu city of the Republic of Korea (RoK) was held in the southern hub of Vietnam on October 11 with a view to spurring bilateral investment and trade.
Dozens of singers from the Republic of Korea including boy and girl bands will perform at the My Dinh National Stadium this weekend as part of festivities marking the 25th anniversary of bilateral ties between Vietnam and the RoK.
Prof. Dr. Georgy Toloraia, Executive Director of the National Committee for BRICS Research and Director of the Centre for Russian Strategy in Asia at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, expressed his confidence that Vietnam will become a substantial and influential partner of BRICS.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed enhancing economic and trade cooperation, including the development of railway connectivity between Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan, which will also strengthen links with Central Asian nations.

Regarding PM Chinh’s attendance at the WEF’s meeting in China for the third year in a row and Vietnam’s contributions to the forum, Ma said the Vietnamese leader has shared practical experiences and proposals on green economy aimed at facilitating trade and attracting foreign investment within the framework of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP); and offering fresh ideas for shaping strategies in economics, trade, and sustainable development.
In 2019, the Vietnamese association in PEI was established as a non-governmental organisation to support integration and development within the community. It has since organised a range of activities to maintain cultural identity, foster community cohesion, and strengthen ties with the homeland, while also contributing to the development of the host society.
Vietnam’s participation at the meeting underscores the country’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification, and proactive international integration in a broad, deep, and effective manner. It also conveys Vietnam’s ambition and determination to enter a new era - the era of the nation’s rise.
