Hanoi steps up efforts to attract international tourists

Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi welcomed an estimated 2.8 🔯million visitors in July, up over 10% year-on-year, of which international arrivals surged𓄧 by 25.2% to 553,000, while domestic visitors reached 2.25 million, a year-on-year increase of 7.1%.

Tourism revenue for the month hit 10.68 trillion VND (408.41 million USD), up nearly 14% from July 2024, the municipal Department of Tourism reported. Cumulatively, in the first seven months of 2025, the locality attracted more than 18.3 million visitors, with tourism revenue estimated at 73 trillion VND, marking solid year-on-year growth. The city’s hospitality infrastructure has expanded to over 3,760 lodging facilities offering 71,000 rooms, including 85 hotels and residences rated from one to five stars. From lakeside luxury hotels to charming Old Quarter homestays, Hanoi caters to a wide range of travelers.
Tourism-related services are also flourishing, with 58 certified establishments offering quality dining, shopping, recreation, and wellness options. Authentic experiences like enjoying bun cha (grilled pork with rice vermicelli) under century-old trees or sipping egg coffee on a quiet balcony continue to charm both new and returning visitors. To meet traveler expectations, Hanoi is actively developing new tourism products, including night tours, agricultural experiences, golf getaways, and community-based tourism in ethnic minority areas. The city is also exploring a metro-based tourism route, offering a green and convenient way to visit attractions across the capital.

Hanoi’s outreach extends beyond its borders. In July, the city co-hosted a cultural and tourism promotion event with China's Guangzhou and is preparing to attend the first Global City Tourism Summit in Busan, the Republic of Korea, this September. Promotional activities in Osaka and Nagoya, Japan. Communication efforts have intensified through online platforms, including the city tourism department’s website and social media channels, helping to build Hanoi’s image as a dynamic, welcoming destination. In the time ahead, the capital will launch a series of events, notably the Hanoi Beverage Festival 2025 and the debut of new products under the theme “Hanoi Tourism – Convergence of Quintessence 2025.” These activities are expected to drive momentum during the peak tourism season.
