The action is part of the continuous efforts ofthe government to ensure that the country is free from any threat against thepeace, harmony and security of the nation, the department said in thestatement. The four Indonesians were detained in anoperation conducted in February under Brunei's Internal Security Act. All ofthem were subsequently deported and blacklisted from reentering Brunei due totheir predisposition towards the ideology of self-claimed Islamic State (IS). The Internal Security Department'sinvestigations revealed that two of them possessed propaganda materials relatedto IS and all the four admitted to downloading as well as sharing IS onlinevideos and other materials available on the Internet. Information received from intelligence sourceshas also showed that one of the four was known to have been in direct contactwith a suspected IS member based overseas. Authorities of Brunei said that recentdevelopments indicate the emergence of extremism and terrorism-related elementsin the country, stressing that the government and people stay vigilant overtransnational security threats.-VNA
