Drug crime in southern region complicated: police officer

Many drug rings have been formed to transportdrugs from abroad to Vietnam, Son said at a meeting in Ho Chi Minh City on June1.
Some of the criminals even used or threatened touse weapons against law enforcement officials, he said.
The meeting was held to honour achievements incombating drug crime recorded by the General Police Department in conjunctionwith the Drug and Crime Prevention Department of the Border Guard High Command.
The forces have reportedly seized more than 50 bricksof heroin (a brick is equivalent to 350 grams), 13.4 kg of crystal meth andthousands of synthetic pills since the beginning of this year.
Speaking at the function, Son urged agencies totighten their coordination in fighting crimes, thus ensuring public security.-VNA
Vietnamese and Lao border provinces signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in preventing and combating cross-border drug crimes at a meeting in Dien Bien province on December 8.
Meetings were held in Hanoi and Nam Dinh province on June 16-17 to respond to the Action Month on Drug Prevention and Control and the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

In recent decades, Vietnam’s mainstream media has become a reliable and persuasive channel for showcasing the nation’s development policies and achievements, especially in economic matters, according to a senior assistant editor at the Times of India.
A hub for sharing best practices, the event aims to forge solutions for financial sustainability, public media contracts, audience engagement, content innovation, and newsroom restructuring. It is also a moment for Vietnam’s media to accelerate its progress and figure out what the “revolutionary press” means in a new era.
From “Thanh nien”, Vietnam’s first revolutionary newspaper founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc (later President Ho Chi Minh) on June 21, 1925, the revolutionary press has remained devoted to its sacred missions -accompanying the nation, serving the Fatherland, and working for the people.
