Titled “Cyber Security Vietnam 2016”,the conference was organised by the Vietnam Centre for Emergency Response Team(VNCERT) under the Ministry of Information and Communications. According to VNCERT, two million cybersecurity issues are discovered weekly, of which about 40-50,000 dangerous onesneed to be analysed and urgently tackled. In 2015, VNCERT recorded more than31,500 problems. In addition, more than one million Internet Protocol (IP)addresses of Vietnam are included in networks of controlled computers. Vice Director of the HCM CityDepartment of Information and Communications Vo Thi Trung Trinh said in somesituations, on-site cyber security teams do not coordinate with specialisedagencies when cyber problems occur. Therefore, local authorities haveincreased efforts to prevent cyber-attacks and ensure normal operation of thecity’s information technology system. Besides coordinating with specialisedagencies, the city will also improve the quality of on-site cyber securityteams, she added. To prevent cyber-attacks, VNCERT hasimplemented the Computer Security Incident Response Team project (CSIRT) inVietnam, which is based on experience from Japan. Nguyen Huu Nguyen, director of VNCERTin HCM City branch said that the team will provide guidance and support for thedevelopment of CSIRT in localities. At the conference, internationalexperts advised that Vietnam should pay attention to human resources andupgrade hardware for cyber security.-VNA
The Institute for Cyber Security Research and Training (CSO) has launched a training system for cyber security simulations, the first of its kind in Vietnam.
Various activities will be held under the theme “new era of cyber security” in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from November 15 to December 5 as part of Vietnam Information Security Day.
Vietnamese businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), must embrace digital and AI transformations to remain competitive and achieve sustainable growth, experts said.
Under the European Union (EU)’s global initiative on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (CoE), Vietnam has implemented numerous projects aimed at strengthening national capacity in detecting, preventing, and preparing for CBRN-related threats.

The National Cybersecurity Association (NCA) reported that in 2024 alone, there were some 659,000 separate cybersecurity incidents, impacting around 46.15% of government agencies and businesses.

The average speed of the national mobile broadband network remained stable, with download speeds reaching 76.86 Mbps and upload speeds reaching 26.98 Mbps.

The organisers hope the competition will help shape a generation of exceptional engineers who will make significant contributions to Vietnam’s scientific and technological progress in this era of transformation.
