Phnom Penh (VNA) – The fifth-tenure CentralCommittee of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) concluded its 41stsession on December 20.
At the press conference following the session,the CPP’s spokesmen Chhim Phalvorun and Suas Yara said the meeting electedseven new members to the Standing Board of the committee, raising themembership to 37.
They include Deputy Prime Minister and Ministerof Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction Chea Sophara; Deputy PM andMinister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn; DeputyPM and Minister of Economy and Finance Aun Porn Moniroth; andCommander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Vong Pisen.
Ek Sam Ol, member of the standing board, waselected head of the CPP Central Committee’s Inspection Commission to replaceNay Pena, who died recently.
The session approved various policies ofCambodia, with priority on the implementation of the CPP-led Government’sRectangular Strategy – Phase IV that focuses on four strategic targets, namelymaintaining annual economic growth of about 7 percent; creating jobs,especially for the young; reducing the poverty rate to under 10 percent; andimproving public administrative capacity from central to local levels.
The spokesmen noted that the meeting also settargets and plans for the CPP to win elections of provincial/capital, municipaland district/Khan councils in May 2019.
The session also called on all people, politicalparties and social organisations to stand united under the constitution and theKing to continue building and defending the country.
It took place in Phnom Penh from December 18,chaired by CPP President and Prime Minister of Cambodia Samdech Techo HunSen and CPP Honourary President and National Assembly President Samdech HengSamrin, and gathered 3,164 CPP members, including 829 of the 865 members of theCentral Committee and leaders of ministries, sectors and localities from acrossthe country.-VNA
