British official commends Vietnam's impressive economic achievements
West applauded Vietnam’s impressive economic achievements, noting that the UK's business community sees the two nations hold great potential for expanding cooperation.

London (VNA) – Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State Cath✤erine West has praised Vietnam’s impressive economic achievements and affirmed the UK's commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation while meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang in London on March 17.
The meeting took place within the framework of Vietnamese Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh’s working visit to the UK.
Hang expressed her pleasure at meeting the British official again and thanked the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) for its support and coordination in organising Deputy PM Binh’s visit.
She believed that the trip would be a success, further deepening the Vietnam-UK Strategic Partnership and bolster economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries.
For her part, West applauded Vietnam’s impressive economic progress, noting that the UK's business community sees the two nations hold great potential for expanding cooperation. She also expressed her desire to visit Vietnam in the coming time.

Regarding Vietnam’s plan to build financial centres, Hang said that through the visit of Deputy PM Binh, the Vietnamese delegation hoped to gain valuable insights from the UK’s expertise and attract British businesses to contribute to the building, development, operation of the regional and international financial centres in the time ahead.
In response, the British official called Vietnam’s initiative a strategic step and affirmed the UK’s readiness to facilitate connections with British enterprises in the financial sector.
Regarding climate change response, Hang highly valued the UK’s role as the coordinator in establishing the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) between Vietnam, the G7, and international partners.
She called on the UK to continue prompting G7 members, international financial institutions, and private investors to support Vietnam’s Resource Mobilisation Plan (RMP), adopted at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).
The diplomat also underlined the importance of the UK's assistance in policy development, human resource training, financial access, and technological advancements for Vietnam’s green transition and sustainable development.
On this occasion, West inquired about Vietnam’s policies on improving the investment environment, and developing green and renewable energy.
The two sides also discussed international and regional issues of mutual concern, including the East Sea issue./.

While praising the efforts of ministries, sectors, and localities in tackling smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeiting, and intellectual property violations, PM Chinh acknowledged that in some places and at certain times, there has been lax enforcement and unclear jurisdiction, leading to increasingly complex developments in these issues.
At the working session, General Secretary Lam presented the Party Committee of the VFF and central mass organisations with the Politburo’s Decision No. 304-QD/TW, which outlines the new structure, functions and tasks of the VFF Central Committee, marking a significant step in improving its organisational effectiveness.
Describing the exhibition as a large-scaled, content-rich, and unprecedented event with high requirements and limited preparation time, PM Pham Minh Chinh urged all ministries, sectors, and localities to participate with the highest sense of responsibility, ensuring the exhibition is inclusive, objective, truthful, feasible, and impactful.
Vietnam’s attendance reaffirms its consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification, and comprehensive, intensive, extensive and effective international integration.
Cheng stressed that this is third time PM Chinh has attended the meeting and he is among the few senior government officials participating in this year's event, which is considered as a rare and commendable gesture.
The fact that the Vietnamese PM has been invited to attend and speak at this important event for three consecutive years reflects the WEF as well as the international business community's recognition and high regard for Vietnam's position, role, and contributions to global and regional economic growth.
This new era marks a crucial phase in which the country must strive with determination to fulfil its strategic objectives, achieving breakthrough development at new levels of sophistication, quality, and global standing, laying the foundation for further growth. Era after era forms a continuous history of development, ascending steadily from one level to the next.
The resolution on such mechanisms aims to serve as a legal basis for opportunely dealing with difficulties and hindrances caused by legal regulations in important, priority, and urgent areas that require immediate settlement so as to unlock resources, facilitate economic development, and turn legislation into a competitive edge.
PM Pham Minh Chinh instructed chairpersons of the People’s Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to strictly follow the Ministry of Finance's guidelines on handling public finances and budgets, with a focus on preventing wastefulness, misconduct, or corruption.
Knapper reaffirmed the US's commitment to supporting a strong, independent, prosperous and resilient Vietnam, while respecting each other’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, independence and political systems.
