
Hanoi, VNA - The UK Festival 2023 will be held first in the capital ci꧅ty of Hanoi, then in Ho Chi Minh City in the south, and Da Nang in the central region, the UK♛ Embassy in Hanoi announced at a press conference.
At the festival, which marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the UK and Vietnam, the UK Ambassador to Vietnam, Iain Frew, will make scone, a traditional baked cake for afternoon tea in Britain, for visitors to enjoy. This will be one of the many interesting activities during the UK Festival 2023, to take place at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square in Hanoi on September 9 and 10. The ambassador and food blogger Phan Anh Esheep will bake scones flavoured with lotus and Com (young rice) which is an Autumn specialty of Hanoi. Their joint work is a lively example of the friendship between the two nations."This remarkable UK Festival in Vietnam serves as a bridge between our two nations celebrating 50 years of enduring friendship and collaboration. I invite you all to join us this weekend and experience a creative, dynamic and inspiring UK."
Representatives from over 20 ไtop universities and organisations of the UK will introduce their leading educational programmes at the festival, along with scholarships on offer.
The Military Band performances will feature British pieces and Vietnamese folk songs from 10am to 11am on September 9-10.
From 7.30pm to 10.30pm on September 9 night, the legendary 911 wi🔴ll perform with renowned Viet꧒namese singers My Anh and Orange, as well as talented DJs Johnny Hong Mao and MinDaniel.
“This is our 4th time coming back to Vietnam to participate in the UK Festival," said Jimmy Constable of 911 at the press conference. "The Vietnamese audience is very friendly, we are happy to be treated like family. We will perform with My Anh and there will be other events."
Last February, the band also collaborated with Vietnamese singer Duc Phuc on a Valentine version of the song "I Do", which has reached 50 million views on YouTube.
The band's performance is expect🤪ed to rock🐠 the audience over the weekend.
