Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on April 18presented bookmobiles to eight provinces across Vietnam to boost the provisionof information and knowledge for people in far-flung areas.
The localities include the northern provinces of Lang Son,Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh, the central province of QuangBinh, the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, and the southernmost provinceof Ca Mau.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thiensaid that this is a practical project that contributes to developing thereading culture in the society as part of a project on the reading culture developmentapproved by the Prime Minister.
He asked the provinces to supplement more books to thesemobile libraries in order to better serve locals.
Each bookmobile is equipped with more than 4,000 books, sixcomputers, one server, one projector, and one television. In addition, theministry’s Library Department also called for donation to provide the mobilelibraries with electronic library and document management software, and booksfor the disabled.
The multi-media bookmobile project has been carried outsince late 2015. In October 2016, the VinGroup presented five mobile librariesto Son La, Nghe An, Quang Nam, Gia Lai and An Giang provinces.
After one year of operation, these bookmobiles served over985,000 readers.-VNA
