Ba Ria-Vung Tau sets up cooperation with Italian region
The memorandum of understanding on the establishment of friendship and cooperation between the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Veneto, an Italian region, has received approval by Veneto President Luca Zaia.

Rome (VNA) - The memorandum ofunderstanding on the establishment of friendship and cooperation between thesouthern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Veneto, an Italian region, has receivedapproval by Veneto President Luca Zaia.
The MoU was handed over to Vietnamese TradeCounselor to Italy Nguyen Duc Thanh on the behalf of Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinceat a ceremony in Venice, Italy on January 26.
Under the MoU, the two sides will undertakenecessary steps to expand partnership in maritime transport, logistics, foodprocessing, education and training, tourism, hi-tech agriculture, publicmanagement, economics and trade, science and technology, healthcare, sports,promotion of cultural heritages, environment and renewable energy.
The two sides agreed to increase informationexchanges in trade and investment and the number of business delegation visits.They also agreed to encourage their businesses to participate in events and tradefairs of each side and planned to organise annual meetings to evaluate theeffectiveness of their cooperation.
Veneto attached importance to developingrelations with foreign partners, including those from Ba Ria-Vung Tau, DiegoVecchiato, Director of the region’s Department of International Relations told theVietnam News Agency.
Ba Ria-Vung Tau has potential for economiccooperation with Veneto, particularly in logistics and tourism, he added,noting that the region can assist the province’s economic development and inareas of culture and universities’ partnership.-VNA
The Vietnam-Russia Oil and Gas Joint Venture Vietsovpetro has set targets for 2018 of pumping 4 million tonnes of oil and condensate and 126.5 million cubic metres of natural gas.
The Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province will continue serving as a bridge for cooperation between Russia’s localities and socio-economic organisations and the province.
The first Vietnam Tennis Federation Pro Tour 1 will be organised in Vung Tau city, the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau from January 28 to February 2.
Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.

In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
