- Party General Secretary To Lam attended a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on June 30 to announce the central and local resolutions and decisions enabling the official launch of the two-tier local government for the new HCM City, which now incorporates the territories of the former Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong province, and Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.
The documents include those regarding the merger of provincial- and commune-level administrative units, the termination of district-level administrative units, the establishment of Party organisations, as well as the appointment of personnel to the Party Committees, People's Councils, People's Committees, and Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committees of HCM City and its communes, wards, and special zones. - State President Luong Cuong has emphasised that the restructuring of commune-level administrative units will open up new development space for Hanoi to better promote its role as the spearhead and growth driver for the capital region, the northern key economic region, and the whole country.

- A ceremony was held in the presence of National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man on June 30 to announce the resolutions and decisions on the administrative unit reorganisation and personnel appointments in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.
According to the Party Central Committee's decisions along with the NA's and the NA Standing Committee's resolutions, the entire natural areas and populations of Can Tho city, Soc Trang province, and Hau Giang province are re-organised into a new administrative unit named "Can Tho city". - Despite global market turbulence and some delays in domestic reforms, European businesses continue to express strong confidence in Vietnam’s long-term economic prospects, according to the latest Business Confidence Index (BCI) report released by the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) on June 30.The BCI for the second quarter of 2025 recorded a slight dip to 61.1, reflecting heightened global uncertainty. - Vietnam’s total agro-forestry-fishery trade in the first half of 2025 is estimated at 57 billion USD, with exports reaching 33.5 billion USD, up 14.3% year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.Meanwhile, imports rose 12.8% to 23.5 billion USD. Export revenue from major product groups saw strong growth, with agricultural products earning 18.3 billion USD (up 16.8%), aquatic products 5 billion USD (up 14.5%), and forestry products 8.7 billion USD (up 8.8%). - Starting July 1, e-marketplaces such as Shopee, Lazada, Tiki, and TikTok Shop will officially begin withholding and paying value-added tax (VAT) and personal income tax (PIT) on behalf of individual sellers using their platforms, as in accordance with the Government's Decree No. 117/2025/ND-CP.Economic experts described this as a major shift in tax administration aimed at enhancing the efficiency of tax collection from the fast-growing online business sector, which still faces gaps in data transparency and tax declaration compliance. - The Government has established the National Data Development Fund, with an initial capital of 1 tril𒐪lion VND (38.4 billion USD), 🀅to strengthen digital infrastructure and promote data governance.
Under Decree No.160/2025/ND-CP, the fund operates as a non-budget state financial fund. As a non-profit entity, it is administered by the Ministry of Public Security and authorised to maintain its official seal and operate accounts at both the State Treasury and commercial banks legally operating within Vietnam's financial system. - A Vietnamese-designed Internet of Things (IoT) chip was 🐓officially launched by 🐲CT Group in Ho Chi Minh City on June 29, marking a notable development in the country’s ambition to build domestic capacity in semiconductor design and production.
