Algiers (VNA) - The freshly-concluded 13th National Congress of theCommunist Party of Vietnam (CPV) is a historic milestone for Vietnam’s future prosperity,an Algerian scholar has said.
Mohamed Berzig, Secretary General of the Algeria-Vietnam Friendship Association, told VietnamNews Agency correspondents in Algeria that the CPV plays an important, outstanding role inorienting Vietnam during its cause of national construction and reform towardsmodernity while consolidating the principles of a socialist-oriented marketeconomy.
Given a range ofchallenges facing the world, Vietnam, under the leadership of the CPV, hasovercome obstacles, strengthened solidarity, protected its territorialintegrity, and moved forward, he said.
The scholar laudedVietnam’s achievements in different spheres after 35 years of reform, such aspolitical stability and extensive and intensive international integration.
He recalled Vietnamjoining international organisations like the WTO, ASEAN, the ASEAN Free TradeAgreement, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in 1988, and theAsia-Europe Economic Meeting (ASEM) in 1996.
Berzig said that followingthe 12th National Party Congress, Vietnam stepped up internationalintegration and brought into full play the strength and potential of eachregion.
The country has benefitedin all fields, from politics and national defence and security to culture andscience-technology, the scholar said, adding he has been impressed by anti-corruptionefforts.
He hopes that withits creativeness, Vietnam can surpass all the challenges ahead and complete itsset targets./.

The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
